The Los Angeles Clippers have waived forward LaDonate Henton, trimming their training camp roster down to 18 players, a league source told Def Pen Hoops.
Henton is expected to have an opportunity to play with the Clippers’ G League affiliate, the Agua Caliente Clippers. The team first signed him to training camp contract at the end of September.
Henton appeared in two preseason games with the Clippers, scoring three points and grabbing two rebounds in 10 minutes of action.
Henton, 25, went unselected out of Providence in the 2015 NBA Draft. He played briefly in the Philippines and Spain before joining the Warriors’ G League affiliate, Santa Cruz Warriors, where he averaged 13.6 points in 37 games last season.
LaDontae Henton played those 37 games under then Santa Cruz head coach Casey Hill, who parted ways with the club this past spring and joined the Agua Caliente Clippers as head coach.
The final day for NBA teams to waive players and finalize their regular season roster is Saturday, October 14, three days before the start of the 2017-18 season.
The Clippers, a team still focused on playoff contention, made significant offseason changes after Chris Paul decided to leave the franchise in June, bringing in players such as Danilo Gallinari, Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams.
