Good linebackers are hard to find in the NFL and the New York Jets have reportedly inked one of the biggest names. CJ Mosley has elected to leave the Baltimore Ravens after five seasons with the team and will be heading north up the east coast.
Mosley is reportedly signing a five-year, $85 million deal with the Jets to hopefully be their new defensive star.
Following comes from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Sources: Former #Ravens LB CJ Mosley is expected to sign with the #Jets on a massive 5-year, $85M deal worth $51M guaranteed. That’s $17M per year. It took a lot to leave Baltimore. ???

Mosley’s $51 million guaranteed is the most guaranteed money for an inside linebacker eclipsing the $34 million in total guarantees Carolina Panthers LB Luke Kuechly signed for in 2015. Mosley is getting a huge deal and New York is hitching their wagon to a consistent force at linebacker. But Mosley won’t be joined by Anthony Barr after the free agent linebacker spurned the Jets and re-signed with the Minnesota Vikings.
The Alabama product has been a valuable member of the Ravens defense over the last five seasons if not the most important part. He’s been named a Pro Bowler four times, played in at least 14 games each of the five seasons averaging 119.4 tackles per season with career totals of nine interceptions, 8.5 sacks and six forced fumbles.
