With the trade, Houston now has three picks (3, 17, and 26) in the first round of the upcoming draft and received veteran players in expiring contracts as they continue to build a roster for the future.
Wood was traded to the Rockets back in 2020 after playing one season with the Detroit Pistons. Certainly, this move was very beneficial for him as he played some of the best basketball in his career. In two seasons, he averaged 19.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
With the move, the Mavericks get Luka Doncic another player that fits his playing style, and hope Wood can be healthier than Porzingis was in the past. Dallas is certainly a team to watch during the offseason with Jalen Brunson’s free agency coming.
