Thanks to the Dallas Mavericks media day and Head Coach Jason Kidd we now know more about the rotation for the team heading into the 2022-23 season. According to the Head Coach, recently acquired big man Christian Wood will primarily serve as the team’s sixth man this season. This will slot recently signed big man Javae Mcgee into the starting lineup with the rest of the starters. The Mavericks traded for Wood this offseason with the Houston Rockets and signed Mcgee to a three-year deal also in the offseason.
Christian Wood will be primarily a sixth man for the Mavs, Jason Kidd says. “I don’t need him to be ‘The Microwave.’ I just need him to be C. Wood.”

Last season as a member of the Houston Rockets, Christian Wood averaged 17.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and one block per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 50.1 percent and a three-point percentage of 39 percent. Coming off the bench will be a change for Wood compared to his role with the Houston Rockets, but he seems eager to prove his value on the team. Competing for an NBA Championship could have something to do with that mindset.
Jason Kidd said Christian Wood will start the season coming off the bench.
Starters: Luka, Spencer Dinwiddie, Reggie Bullock, Dorian Finney-Smith, JaVale McGee.
But said Wood could start in certain matchups: “I just want him to be himself.”

The Dallas Mavericks have made it a priority to add talent around their Superstar player Luka Doncic. Jason Kidd and the Mavericks believe that Christian Wood can be one such player that can help them compete for an NBA Championship. Luka Doncic can get them close virtually by himself, give him some help and the sky is the limit for the team.
