The Redskins have lost running back Chris Thompson for the remainder of the season with a fractured fibula. Thompson was carted off of the field halfway through the third quarter in a loss to the New Orleans Saints.

On the play, Thompson was rolled up on by Saints defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins who was tackling Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.
The Redskins were already missing running back Rob Kelley who has struggled with injuries all season. Thompson was replaced by rookie running back Samaje Perine. Perine finished the game with 117 yards and 1 touchdown.
The loss of Thompson will especially hurt the Redskins passing attack as Thompson leads the team in receptions with 38 for 494 yards and 3 receiving touchdowns this season. He will finish his season with 60 rushing attempts for 277 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.
