Less than a day before the 2021 free agency period Chris Paul informed the Phoenix Suns that he would be declining his $44.2 million player option. He is expected to work out another deal with the Suns on Monday when the free-agent period begins. Paul came just two games shy of an NBA Championship this past season and will look to run it back with the Phoenix Suns. It is currently unclear what details the contract will be length and money-wise.

Paul has been moving around quite a bit the last few years, but the fit with Devin Booker and the Phoneix Suns seems perfect. The Western Conference will be reloaded and as hard as ever this upcoming season, so Paul will have to work hard to get back to the NBA Finals. This past season Paul averaged 16.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game for the Suns. He paired the numbers with a field goal percentage of 49.9 percent and a three-point percentage of 39.5 percent. The Suns overall are young and hungry with the chance to only get better.
There is no guarantee that Chris Paul heads back to the Phoneix Suns, but all signs point to that. It seems likely that news will come out Monday that the veteran point guard is returning to the Suns on some type of new deal. Devin Booker can continue to learn how to handle being a superstar in the NBA and Chris Paul only has so many years left to win that elusive NBA Championship. The deal will be mutually beneficial to both sides of the contract.
