Head Coach in waiting Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils have picked up the commitment of 2022 top ten recruit Dariq Whitehead. He is also ranked as a top-three small forward in the 2022 recruiting class. This is the second commitment for the soon-to-be new Duke Head Coach Jon Scheyer. It will be a year before he gets to campus in Durham, but it looks like the new Duke Head Coach will have some serious firepower to work with during his first season running the program.
“Growing up, Duke has always been my dream school.”

Dariq Whitehead’s overall 2022 ranking checks in at six. He is a talented recruit that should immediately start for the Blue Devils once he gets to campus. The Montverde Academy standout will also likely head straight to the 2023 NBA Draft in typical top ten “one and done” status. Duke has put many talented wings into the NBA that went “one and done”. Whitehead has been on a path to Duke since he first started playing basketball. Whitehead will compete for ACC Freshman of the Year and he should be well remembered in one year at Duke.
The top three 2022 forward will be joining top 35 recruit and four-star center Kyle Filipowski in Durham to play basketball in the fall of 2022. This Duke class has started to shape up into a very talented class with more top names still considering the program. The current roster has several names that will likely move on, so there will be plenty of minutes to go around to new faces. Dariq Whitehead has joined the brotherhood.
