Years before he was a major fixture in media, Lenard “Charlamagne Tha God” McKelvey worked alongside his sister at a Taco Bell in South Carolina. Having successfully transitioned from drive-thru intercoms to syndicated airwaves, the South Carolina native is looking to make his way back to the fast food industry in a new way. The Breakfast Club co-host is reportedly finalizing a deal to open six Krystal locations in the U.S. Alongside his wife and business partner, Jessica Gadsden-McKelvey, he will begin his work with the fast food chain by opening up two locations in his hometown of Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
“Having grown up in the South, the Krystal brand is an icon for the region,” the radio host said.
“I’m excited and honored to be joining forces with them to bring their unique menu to more communities and to help showcase the brand to more audiences.”
Charlamagne Tha God is far from the only figure in entertainment to work with Krystal. Recently, Tauheed “2 Chainz” Epps signed a deal to become the brand’s head of creative marketing. In this role, he will spearhead “the creation of multiple new platforms and partnerships, including menus, merchandising and co-branded restaurants in the brand’s hometown of Atlanta.”
“I can remember Krystal being a part of so many pivotal moments of my childhood and teen years. Some of my best moments were made better by going to Krystal, and I’m a fan for life,” 2 Chain said.
“I want everyone to feel that, too, and can’t wait to put Krystal in the spotlight it deserves.”
Super Bowl Champion Victor Cruz has also partnered with Krystal as the fast food chain expands into his home state of New Jersey.
