Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago are teaming up, well sort of. According to Deadline, CBS has ordered a pilot for a new series from Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren. CBS reportedly beat out streaming services and many other major networks to land the pilot.
Announced back in August, The International will star Lundgren as Anders Soto, somewhat of a one-man black ops team for the United Nations. Not much is known about the plot specifics but the series is being written by Ken Sanzel. Lundgren is also set to produce the series alongside Stallone, who is attached to direct.
The two action heavyweights have a long cinematic history. First appearing opposite each other in Rocky IV, they’ve since appeared as allies in The Expendables franchise. And, they both reprised their roles from Rocky IV in last year’s Creed II.
Back in August, Stallone took to Instagram to share his excitement for the project. “[I] and Balboa Productions are so proud to announce this incredible new show called The International. It’s going to be fantastic working with my old hard-punching friend @dolphlundgren!”
No release date has been set or even hinted for the series yet. But, you can catch Stallone on the big screen right now in Rambo: Last Blood.
