Carson Palmer left the field before the end of the first half against the Rams and would not return. It has since been announced by head coach Bruce Arians (BA) that Palmer has a broken shoulder.
BA says Carson Palmer will have surgery on his broken arm and likely miss 8 weeks.

Palmer left in the second quarter while taking a shot from linebacker Alec Ogletree. The play resulted in a Rams interception, and eventually a blow out loss as backup Drew Stanton couldn’t keep up with the LA offense. Stanton finished 5 of 14 for 62 yards in the 33-0 route.
The loss dropped the struggling Cardinals to 3-4 on the season, while the Rams remain at the top of the NFC West at 5-2.
The Cardinals plan on moving forward with Stanton as the starter for now according to Arians.
BA says Drew Stanton will definitely be the starter at QB vs SF in our next game.

With the 37 year old Palmer nearing retirement the injury may actually play in the Cardinals favor. With a stacked quarterback class this draft, the worse the Cardinals finish the better chance they have at the future of the franchise.
