The 2020 recruiting class has one less undecided five-star prospect now. Five-star guard Cameron Thomas has decided to play basketball for Will Wade and the LSU Tigers. He picked the Tigers after leaning in that direction for a long time in his commitment process. This is a major get for Will Wade and LSU amid problems with the NCAA.
Breaking News:
Cam Thomas tells ESPN he has committed to LSU.
Thomas is a five-star recruit and no.18 on the ESPN 100 big board.
“Their plan is for me to come in to score points and make plays. That’s what I do.” @24_camthomas— Paul Biancardi (@PaulBiancardi) November 18, 2019
This is the Tigers’ first 2020 five-star recruit and third overall recruit in the class this year. Cameron Thomas is joining three-star point guard Jalen Cook and three-star center Bradley Ezewiro. The latter being high school teammates with Thomas at Oak Hill Academy. This is a major pickup for a Tigers roster that is set to lose more talent after the 2019-20 season. The commitment of the guard bumps them to 4th in the SEC and 17th nationally.
LSU could be receiving a notice of allegations later in the year, but nothing is set in stone. The addition of Thomas continues to show off the talent that Will Wade is able to lure in for the Tigers. This team wanted to land a five-star to coming in next year and now they have a talented shooting guard in Thomas. His level of play will matter next year if he hopes to make a one-year jump to the NBA.
They may have landed a “one and done” but Thomas could decide to stay for a year or two depending on how he plays at LSU next season. The Tigers have a talented shooting guard for next year regardless now.
