The Baltimore Ravens have informed defensive end Calais Campbell that they are releasing him to free agency. This move comes as free agency begins to open up and comes as a bit of a surprise. While Campbell is getting older, he has still been quite effective on the defensive line for the team. Campbell spent three seasons with the team after playing for the Arizona Cardinals and Jacksonville Jaguars. There will likely be several teams interested in the veteran pass rusher once he clears waivers and this will free him to sign with another playoff contender.

This past season with the Baltimore Ravens, Calais Campbell recorded 18 solo tackles, 36 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two passes defended. While not quite the pass-rushing force he used to be, he is still a valuable member of any defensive line and a veteran presence that could mentor younger players on the defense. He can still slot into situational pass-rushing snaps and disrupt a passing play for a team.
With Calais Campbell headed to free agency, the Baltimore Ravens will have to find a replacement in the lineup. While there are some options in free agency, the team may decide to draft a pass rusher that they value in the 2023 NFL Draft. Baltimore also still has to figure out their situation with quarterback Lamar Jackson.
