The 2020 recruiting class has seen yet another five-star guard make his college decision. Five-star shooting guard Bryce Thompson has committed to the Kansas Jayhawks to play basketball. He picked the Bill Self and the Jayhawks over Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Oklahoma State. The talented guard picked the Jayhawks despite a looming threat from the NCAA and a notice of allegations.
It’s been an amazing recruiting process, thanks to everyone for your support on this journey. So happy to announce my college decision! ??

This is a big get for the Jayhawks amid the NCAA investigation. The five-star guard will bring a talented wing position player for Bill Self in the 2020-2021 season. He is listed as a combo guard, but likely projects more as a shooting guard in the NCAA and NBA. The guard is listed at 6’5″ and 175 pounds. Bryce Thompson is listed as the 19th best recruit in the 2020 recruiting class.
This is the third recruit for the Kansas Jayhawks in the 2020 recruiting class. He joins four-star center Gethro Muscadin and second-ranked JUCO prospect Tyon Grant-Foster. This pushed the Jayhawks to the 12th best recruiting class nationally for the 2020 class. Kansas had a 2019 recruiting class with no five-star recruits, but a few talented four-stars.
Bryce Thompson might be a “one and done” prospect, but Kansas will be happy to have the combo guard on their roster for the year. The Jayhawks are not currently in the running for another 2020 five-star recruit, but they are contending for some talented four-star recruits. Thompson seems by all accounts the centerpiece for the Jayhawks 2020 recruiting class. The NCAA notice of allegations is still looming overhead, but the team will have a talented roster as always.
