San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been diagnosed with a torn UCL in his right elbow and it requires surgery. The injury occurred during the team’s 31-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2023 NFC Championship. Purdy was injured early and replaced by quarterback Josh Johnson. He would then have to come back into the game after Johnson also got hurt in the game. With his UCL torn and surgery looming he is expected to miss the next six months of football action. The quarterback conversation in San Francisco just got more interesting.

After the team’s loss in the 2023 NFC Championship Brock Purdy said the following about the injury he sustained in the game: “My arm felt like it stretched out. I felt really just like a lot of shocks all over from my elbow down to my wrist, front and back. Just pain really, all over.”
Brock Purdy closed out the season for the San Francisco 49ers after both Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo went down with injuries. In the regular season, he completed 114 passes for 1,374 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions on 170 attempts. He also rushed the ball 22 times for 13 yards and one rushing touchdown. Mr. Irrelevant looked like a starting quarterback in the NFL this season with the 49ers and may just get his chance to compete for the job this fall. First, though he needs to focus on healing after his surgery. We here at Def Pen Sports wish him the best in his recovery and eventual return to the football field.
