Yes, it’s festival season! Sure, Coachella has already passed us by, but there’s so much more to look forward to. With Jay-Z set to perform at Woodstock, Cardi B headlining Summer Jam and Ariana Grande performing at Lollapalooza, there’s a lot to look forward to this year. This month, we’ll be bringing you everything from Broccoli City Festival down in the nation’s capital. This year, Donald Glover, Lil’ Wayne and 6LACK will take the stage at FedEx Field. However, there’s so much more that goes into this year’s festival. Broccoli City offers a two day convention, a 5K run and a spectacular preview night. To get you ready for this year’s festival, here’s a complete breakdown of this year’s Broccoli City Music Festival.
Things To Do
Broccoli City Convention
April 25th – April 26th | National Union Building & The Loft at 600 F
Unlike most other festivals, Broccoli City is more than just who’s opening and who’s headlining. In fact, Broccoli City Convention might be just as impressive Broccoli City Music Festival. During the two days leading up to the festival, Broccoli City hosts a gathering of local leaders and entrepreneurs that are seeking to make positive change in their communities. Panels and workshops this year will discuss topics such as community development, impact investing, content creation and much more. Panelists include Quality Control’s Coach K, ESPN’s Kevin Merida and BuzzFeed’s Sylvia Obell. If you’re interested in bettering yourself and your community, this is definitely the place to be. Broccoli City 5K
April 27th | Gateway DC
In the weeks following the death of legendary philanthropist, leader and musician, Nipsey Hussle, we’ve heard a lot about the motto, “The Marathon.” Broccoli City takes that phrase and applies it both literally and figuratively. On the morning of the festival, Broccoli City brings upwards of five hundred people out for a 5K run. In addition, Broccoli City brings out health and wellness demos along with fitness activations. All in all, the event does a fantastic job of presenting health and wellness to communities of color. To participate in this year’s 5K run, grab your tickets here.
