Houston Rockets newly acquired combo guard Brandon Knight will reportedly be sidelined indefinitely after undergoing surgery on an injured left knee, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic:

Knight was brought in by the Rockets alongside forward Marquese Chriss in an August trade that ended Ryan Anderson’s two-year tenure with the franchise. Knight was likely going to control backup point guard duties, sharing the backcourt with former Sixth Man of the Year Eric Gordon. With the former Kentucky guard sidelined, however, journeyman and former Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams will likely be tasked with playmaking duties off the Rockets’ bench to start the season.
Knight’s injury history dates back to his days with the Milwaukee Bucks, as the 26-year-old has played no more than 63 games since the start of the 2014-15 season, and missed the entirety of the 2017-18 campaign with a torn ACL
Knight has two years and over $30 million remaining from the five-year, $70 million deal he signed with Phoenix in the summer of 2015.
