‘IT’ destroyed all expectations at the weekend box office. The Stephen King adaptation brought in over $123 million at the weekend box office. The film shattered records left and right including becoming the biggest horror film opening ever, as well as tallying the second highest R rated film debut of all time. People were expecting ‘IT’ to come out of the gates in a big way but this is truly unprecedented. The film has an estimated budget of $35 million and has already grossed over $185 million world wide in 3 days. Kudos to everyone involved with this film. The Reese Witherspoon romantic comedy ‘Home Again’ brought in a respectable $9 million in its opening frame. There’s no information on the film’s budget readily available but one could expect this is about where the studio expected the film to land box office wise. ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ was finally knocked off the top spot by the creepy clown this weekend but it still managed to bring in over $4.8 million bringing its overall total to just over $64 million.
