Last year, BigXthaPlug and Ro$ama traded verses of LilJuMadeDaBeat production as they compared themselves to Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal of the 2002 Lakers. This year, they’re going bar for bar over intense production, but this time around, they’re comparing themselves to King Kong and Godzilla. Just under two weeks away from the theatrical release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Warner Bros. Pictures and UnitedMasters recruited the Texas natives for the film’s soundtrack. Powered by the animated production Callmeshotto, Thatboydaymon and Aimonmyneck, the duo attacks the soundtrack’s latest single, “Best Mode (Godzilla x Kong)” with the aggression of the film’s lead characters.
“I’m a king like kong. The streets [are] my home. Call me Godzilla. I roam alone. [We’re] taking over the world. We’re coming for the throne. This isn’t for the weak. You’ve got to be strong,” BigXthaPlug raps.
“Ain’t no love on the island. My heart [is] made of chrome. [I] heard he’s looking for war. Give that boy what he wants. You’re going to hunt or get hunted. That just how it goes. We’re not dropping beef. We don’t stop until it’s done,” Ro$ama answers.
The release of “Beast Mode” sets the stage for the film’s wide release on Friday, March 29. Directed by Adam Wingard, the Warner Bros. film follows Godzilla and King Kong as “a colossal threat hidden deep within the planet” challenges “their very existence and the survival of the human race.” Until it hits theaters, get ready with Ro$ama and BigXthaPlug’s “Beast Mode.”
