Ten years after delivering his debut album, Live From The Underground, Big K.R.I.T is still around and proving that he’s one of the best artists to emerge over the last decade. This week, the Mississippi native delivered a loosie called “Extra Credit.” Featured on the Madden NFL 23 Soundtrack, the track is as soulful and refreshing as ever while allowing Big K.R.I.T to have free range with his rhyme scheme.
“It ain’t easy paving a way or being great. They’re slamming the door. I’m jumping the gate. ‘Cause a starving stomach is like being punched in the face. An instrumental feels like the last time that I ate,” he raps.
“Extra Credit” is one of the standout tracks featured on the Madden NFL 23 Soundtrack. Alongside “Extra Credit” by Big K.R.I.T, “Crazy” by Doechii, “N95” by Kendrick Lamar, “Lifestyle” by Bas featuring A$AP Ferg and “Meet Joe Black” are also featured on the video game’s playlist. Not to mention, Cordae, Lil’ Wayne, Vic Mensa and Earthgang can also be heard during gameplay.
“Extra Credit” also serves as Big K.R.I.T’s first offering since his fifth studio album, Digital Roses Don’t Die, dropped in February. The project featured tracks like “Southside of the Moon” and “Rhode Clean.” He also took the project on tour with ELHAE and Price.
