Taylour Paige and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will reportedly star alongside Eddie Murphy in the developing Beverly Hills Cop reboot at Netflix. At this time, it is unclear what roles Paige and Gordon-Levitt will play in the Netflix project, but Murphy is reportedly reprising his role as Axel Foley while Will Beall of Zack Snyder’s Justice League writes the script. Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman have also signed on to produce the film.
Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop reboot will take a spin on the popular film franchise of the 1980s and 1990s that catapulted Murphy to new levels of stardom. The first chapter of the trilogy followed Murphy’s character, Axel Foley, as he went from Michigan to California as he attempted to solve the murder of a friend. From the success of the 1984 film, two more films were released in 1987 and 1994.
Paige continues to build her success throughout the new decade. Prior to boarding Netflix’s latest collaboration with Eddie Murphy, she starred in Zola, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Boogie. She also starred opposite of Kendrick Lamar on “We Cry Together” from the critically-acclaimed album, Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers. Currently, she is set to appear in Brothers, The Trainer, Magazine Dreams and The Toxic Avenger. Meanwhile, Gordon-Levitt has worked on Knives Out, Trial of the Chicago 7 and Project Power. He is also slated to appear in Providence, a comedy about murder, mystery and greed, in 2023.
At this time, there is no projected release date for the latest chapter of the Beverly Hills Cop project. However, Netflix has begun working on the visual effort.
