Arizona Wildcats sophomore guard Bennedict Mathurin has declared for the 2022 NBA Draft and will forgo his remaining college eligibility. His final college game will be a loss in the 2022 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 to the Houston Cougars. He is expected to be an NBA lottery pick and should go somewhere in the six to ten range of the draft this year. Mathurin was one of college basketball’s best guards and helped the Wildcats earn a number one seed.

Bennedict Mathurin dominated the PAC-12 this year and in his second season, he averaged 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. His points per game led the Arizona Wildcats this season. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 45 percent and a three-point percentage of 36.9 percent. This amazing season helped first-year Head Coach Tommy Lloyd get off to a great start with the Wildcats program. Since he is projected as a top ten draft selection he will not be returning, but he did leave his mark while with the Arizona program.

Bennedict Mathurin was not always projected to be a lottery pick in the NBA Draft but through hard work and his level of play, he has earned the right. He will join a rich history of NBA players that were born in Canada. This hard work and dedication from the Arizona standout have paid off and soon he will hear his name called by Adam Silver on draft night. That goal is exactly what he was working toward and then the work of the NBA will begin.
