A new, positive trend has begun in the NFL. A few weeks ago, Buffalo Bills fans donated over $300,000 to a charity run by Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton. This week, it was Bengals fans that did the donating. In all, Bengals fans donated over $5,000 to Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles’ favorite charity.

The charity supports both children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and “first responders in both Jacksonville and Oviedo communities.
Cinncinati fans began donating after, Mo Egger, a local sports radio host, suggested they do so because of the generosity of the Bills fans. Bills fans donated because the Bengals defeated the Baltimore Ravens, which allowed the Bills first playoff berth since 1999. The Bengals fans also wanted to show their appreciation for the Jags taking down the Steelers 45-42 in Sunday’s playoff game.
Bortles said in a statement:
“Fans are at the core of the football experience and it’s truly exciting and rewarding when they band together, regardless of the team they cheer for, to make a positive impact in the lives of others. I greatly appreciate the support displayed by Bengals fans and they should know their support will make a difference.”
It has been an incredible run for the Jags so far. They defeated the Bills in the Wild Card and pulled off the massive upset of the Steelers this past weekend. However, their Cinderella story could be coming to an end soon. The Jags will have to go through Tom Brady and the New England Patriots if they wish to keep their Super Bowl dreams alive.
