Fresh off of a star performance in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights, Leslie Grace has landed the role of Barbara Gordon in Batgirl. Gordon is known to comic book fans and movie fans as the daughter of police commissioner James Gordon. Unbeknownst to her father, Barbara Gordon also serves the city of Gotham as Batgirl.
Thus far, Grace is the only major casting decision to emerge from the film’s production. Behind the scenes, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will direct the film while Christina Hodson writes the script. Rounding out the crew, Kristin Burr will produce the Warner Bros. and DC Films project.
Batgirl will also debut exclusively on HBO Max. Following the trend set during the COVID-19 pandemic, Batgirl hopes to achieve the same commercial success that films like Judas and the Black Messiah and Space Jam: A New Legacy have while debuting on HBO Max.
