The Barclays Center has hosted the NBA Draft since it’s opening in Brooklyn in 2012, taking the reigns from Madison Square Garden where the draft was held from 2001 to 2010 before undergoing renovations.
The 2015 NBA Draft will also be held at the Barclays Center, reports Tim Bontemps of the New York Post, making it the third straight year for Brooklyn to host the draft:
League sources told The Post the NBA draft will return to Barclays Center for a third straight season next month. It will mark the fifth straight year the draft will be held at an arena that houses the Nets. It took place at Prudential Center in Newark in 2011 and 2012.
While the June 25 draft will be held at the home of the Nets, the focus locally will almost exclusively be on the Knicks, who have the second-best chance to claim the top spot in the NBA draft lottery, which will be held at the ABC Studios in Times Square May 19.
NBA Draft crowds are historically rowdy and Knicks fans will definitely be flooding this one in anticipation of their top-five lottery pick. They’ll either be rejoicing or wallowing (or both) in Brooklyn come June when they find out who that draft pick will be.
