Deron Williams comments about the offensive system run by Avery Johnson were already known by the coach before they were made public. Johnson says he is in constant dialogue with his players and he had already had a conversation with Williams about the situation.
The point guard admitted on Monday that he hasn’t been the same player he was while with the Jazz since he came to New Jersey – and now Brooklyn – via trade. He attributed that to the system being run by the Nets, and Avery Johnson.
Johnson says he doesn’t take the criticism personally.
“I don’t take anything personally. I communicate with all of our players, and am in constant communication with Deron and [Jerry Stackhouse] and Joe [Johnson],” Avery Johnson said before last night’s 92-90 loss to the Jazz in Brooklyn. “So whether it comes out publicly or the guys talk to me about stuff privately, I’ve got really thick skin and it doesn’t irritate me one bit.
