Donald Glover has done a lot within the last three years. He’s appeared in a Star Wars film, dropped an album and appeared on 21 Savage’s I Am > I Was. Through it all, fans have been appreciative of his work, but they’ve been waiting for one thing in particular — a new season of Atlanta. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the show’s highly anticipated third season even further. Pushing through the setbacks and tough times, Glover, Zazie Beetz, Lakeith Stanfield and Brian Tyree Henry have reunited to deliver seasons three and four. Tonight, Glover gave viewers a quick look at what they can expect.
In true Donald Glover fashion, he teased the first look at the new season in an eerie way. He dropped a quick link on Twitter to a site called “Gilga.” Much of the trailer is backed by eerie sound clips with photos of concert venues, hotels and tourist attractions from around Europe. This seemingly points to the idea that season three will center around Paperboy’s European tour that is teased at the end of season two. Speaking of Paperboy, he pops up nearly 32 seconds into the teaser. Sitting at a table in an elegant room, the rapper stares blankly at the screen while wearing jewelry and a shirt that reads, “fake.” Making things more eerie, there are two servers standing behind him, but they are both facing the wall. Finally, the screen fades to black and the word “Atlanta” appears in the center. Shortly thereafter, the number “2022” appears on the screen.
The short teaser didn’t provide any details about the new season, but it did get fans hyped up. Check out the short clip below and get ready for Atlanta on FX in 2022.
