North Carolina Tar Heels senior big man Armando Bacot has announced that he will return for his fifth season in Chapel Hill. Bacot is allowed to play for a fifth year thanks to his extra year of eligibility that was granted to all players during the 2020-21 college basketball season due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Tar Heel’s big man already owns the all-time North Carolina record for double-doubles and rebounds. While this season did not end how he or the program envisioned, Bacot will spend next year playing for the Tar Heels.

Armando Bacot has 1,809 career points which places him just 54 points shy of the top ten in North Carolina history. He has a good chance of climbing well into the top ten and could get as high as second. He will likely not catch Tyler Hansbrough at first who had 2,872 points in his career. More importantly, Bacot will be chasing the elusive NCAA Championship in his final season with the Tar Heels. They will need a much better season next year if they hope to compete for one.
As a senior with the North Carolina Tar Heels, Armando Bacot averaged 15.9 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and one block per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 55.4 percent and a free-throw percentage of 66.5 percent. This news will thrill North Carolina fans during an offseason that has massive questions and concerns.
