Over the years, North and South Carolina have given birth to some of the greatest musicians we know today. Acts like James Brown, Roberta Flack, John Coltrane and Dizzy Gillespie all were born or grew up in one of the two states. More recently, the Carolinas have given rise to acts like J. Cole, Nick Grant, Rapsody and many more. Among the many acts to come from North and South Carolina is a soulful R&B singer who has dazzled audiences for more than a decade. Following Meek Mill‘s opening performance, Charlotte’s own, Anthony Hamilton, delivered a jazzy rendition of the National Anthem.

After last year’s infamous rendition of the national anthem from Fergie, it appears that the NBA decided to go into another direction for this year’s anthem. As a native of Charlotte, Anthony Hamilton was the perfect choice to deliver the national anthem at the Spectrum Center. While unique in its own way, Anthony Hamilton let his band back him up and his voice did the talking.
