Louisiana State University (LSU) Forward Angel Reese has declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft. On Wednesday, April 3, the Maryland native shared the news via Vogue.
“I’ve done everything I wanted to in college,” she told Vogue Digital Style Director Leah Faye Cooper.
“I’ve won a national championship, I’ve gotten [Southeastern Conference] Player of the Year, I’ve been an All-American. My ultimate goal is to be a pro — and to be one of the greatest basketball players to play, ever. I feel like I’m ready.”
Reese is a three-time AP All-American, two-time All-SEC honoree and the 2023 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Through 116 games, she averaged 18.6 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Playing two seasons at the University of Maryland and two seasons at LSU, she finishes with a record of 114-20, an ACC regular season title, an ACC tournament title and a national title.
Reese is currently projected as the seventh or eighth overall pick to either the Minnesota Lynx or the Chicago Sky. Led by Napheesa Collier, the Lynx finished with a record of 19-21 and suffered a first-round exit in the WNBA Playoffs. Similarly, the Sky were also knocked out of the WNBA Playoffs in the first round after finishing with an 18-22 record. If taken by Chicago, Reese would join fellow 6’3 forward and DMV native Elizabeth Williams.
The 2024 WNBA Draft is set for Monday, April 15 at 7:30 PM EST.
