During Tuesday’s episode of ESPN podcast “Le Batard & Friends”, Andre Drummond said that he will pick up his player option and stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2020-21 season.
“Yeah, it’s going to be hard to give up, so you can count on me being in Cleveland still. I definitely will be in Cleveland.”
Drummond also talked about the situation in Cleveland with his teammates and the fans during the podcast.
“I enjoy being in Cleveland, I think the people there are outstanding, the fan base is super dope. I love playing there, the coaching staff is good and the team is young so it is good to work there.”
Drummond was traded by the Detroit Pistons, before the trade deadline, to the Cavs in exchange for Brandon Knight, John Henson, and a second-round pick.
Drummond only played in 8 games with the team before the season was suspended. During those games, the team won four games and lost the other four and Drummond averaged 17.5 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 28.1 minutes per game.
The team isn’t going to participate in the Orlando resumption of the season as they finished in the last spot of the Eastern Conference with a 19-46 record.
