The Boys are back on Prime! Days after season three of The Boys premiered on Amazon Prime, the streaming site has renewed the superhero saga for a fourth season.
The show’s renewal comes as no surprise to those who have followed the show’s growth. Viewership for the third season premiere boosted 17% from the previous season. Furthermore, viewership for the third season premiere increase by 234% in comparison to season one.
Moving forward, the cast has its sights set on creating another installment of superhero drama. Recently, actor Karl Urban said that the show will continue filming through the end of the year. However, there is no word as to when the show’s fourth season will debut.
“From our first conversation with Eric Kripke and the creative team about Season Three of The Boys, we knew the show was continuing to get even bolder — an impressive feat considering the wild success of the Emmy-nominated second season,” Vernon Sanders of Amazon Studios said, according to Variety.
“The Boys continues to push boundaries in storytelling while also being relentlessly entertaining and threading the needle on social satire that feels all too real. This stylized world of the series has incredible global reach and the viewership for opening weekend is proof of that.”
New episodes of The Boys will be released each week through Amazon Prime. The season finale is set to air on July 8, 2022.
