Amanda Serrano is on the hunt for a world title in yet another weight class — super lightweight.
In her debut at super lightweight, Amanda Serrano challenged Stevie Morgan. With a record of 14-2 with 13 knockouts, Morgan enter the bout as BoxRec’s fifth ranked super lightweight in the U.S. However, the 35-year-old knockout artist was no match for the Puerto Rican puncher as she seemingly cruised to a second-round stoppage.
With the win, Serrano improves her professional record to 47-2-1 with 31 knockouts. Moving forward, she plans to challenge undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor at AT&T Stadium on Friday, November 16. However, she is certain that the outcome of Taylor-Serrano II will be different than their first fight.
“We’re going to show that women can fight, put on a show, and sell. But this time, [the result of our fight] is going to be a lot different,” Serrano said.
Serrano and Taylor met for the first time on April 30, 2022 at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York. Despite badly hurting Taylor multiple times in the fight, Serrano lost a close decision loss to the previously unbeaten and undisputed lightweight champion. Since then, Taylor has beaten Karen Elizabeth Carabajal and split a pair of fights with former undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor.
Serrano-Taylor II will be complemented by a bout featuring Jake Paul and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. On Saturday, July 10, Paul bookended Serrano’s impressive performance against Morgan with a sixth-round stoppage of former UFC fighter Mike Perry.
