Usher will not be alone when he takes the stage at Allegiant Stadium during Super Bowl LVIII. Alicia Keys will reportedly join the Atlanta-based entertainer during his highly-anticipated halftime performance. The New York native was spotted rehearsing with Usher at Allegiant Stadium on Thursday. While it is unclear what role she will play in the performance, TMZ suggests the duo will perform “one big song together.”
The two award-winning superstars happen to have recorded “one big song together” in 2004.” Released as the fourth single from his hit album, Confessions, Usher and Alicia Keys’ “My Boo” spent six weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and won Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 47th Annual GRAMMY Awards. In the 19 years since its release, “My Boo” has been certified quintuple-platinum by the RIAA.
Also, Alicia Keys recruited Usher for the remix of “If I Ain’t Got You” in 2004. The original track peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and also picked up an award at the 47th Annual GRAMMY Awards.
Keys is no stranger to the NFL. In 2008, she performed a medley of her greatest hits prior to the start of Super Bowl XLII. Four years later, she returned to the Super Bowl stage to perform the National Anthem. Most recently, she sang “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Florida.
