The University of Alabama Crimson Tide has dethroned the top-ranked University of Georgia Bulldogs to capture their third Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship in four years.
“A lot of people doubted this team,” University of Alabama Crimson Tide Quarterback Jalen Milroe said.
“I never gave up on this team. That’s the biggest thing.”
Despite being the betting underdog, the Crimson Tide shot out to a 10-point lead, powered by Jalen Milroe touchdown passes thrown to Jam Miller and Jermaine Burton. After the break, the University of Georgia Bulldogs bounced back with a pair of Carson Beck and Kendall Milton rushing touchdowns. However, it proved to be too little too late as the Crimson Tide pulled out a three-point victory to claim the 2023 SEC Championship.
“This is a team,” Alabama Crimson Tide Head Coach Nick Saban said after the game.
“I’ve never been prouder of a group of guys.”
The University of Alabama Crimson Tide inch closer to a berth in the 2024 College Playoff as they improve their record to 12-1. Meanwhile, University of Georgia moves in the opposite direction as they suffer their first loss of the year. Still, University of Georgia Bulldogs Head Coach Kirby Smart is confident his team will be selected to participate in the four-team tournament.
“I have no question we’re one of the best four teams,” University of Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart said.
“There’s two classes of our kids that haven’t lost a game. They’re resilient, they’re fighters. In life, sometimes you can’t get better until you lose.”
The final College Football Playoff selection show of the 2023-2024 season is set to take place at 12 p.m. EST on Sunday, December 3.
