Last season with the Hawks, Horford averaged 15.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in 82 contests. Shooting 51% from the field and 34% from behind the arc, Horford was one of the league’s most versatile players and harmed opposing defenses with his ability to score inside and out.
Before reaching an agreement with the C’s, Horford had also received interest from the Hawks, Heat, Lakers, Magic, Nets, Pistons, Thunder, Warriors, and Wizards.
Talks between Atlanta and Horford stalled on the first day of free agency, according to reports. The Hawks later came to terms with Dwight Howard on a three-year, $70M deal. With Atlanta’s starting frontcourt set on Millsap and Howard,
Horford had taken meetings with Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, but at the end of the day he elected to join the C’s and be their star.
Horford made it official on twitter.
