Six years ago, 6LACK released his breakout project, Free 6LACK. While tracks like “Rules” and “PRBLMS” quickly caught the attention of critics and fans alike, the LP’s final song sets the tone for what is to come. “EA6,” a tribute to his hometown of Atlanta, serves as a mission statement for what the multi-talented act planned to do moving forward.
“A-town stomp on the old me/Used to ride through the hood with the slow creep/People gon’ love what they don’t need,” he raps.
“I remember what the OG’s told me/You better shine bright when the lights down/Less talk, more show, nigga pipe down/’Cause words ain’t shit but your thoughts out loud/And thoughts are the opposite of showin’ n*gga’s how. Be cautious where you play, there’s darkness in the A.”
Six years removed from the release of Free 6LACK, his music is not only heard in the A, but it is played around the world. With a number of hit records, collaborations with star artists and more accolades than can be mentioned in a simple sentence, the Atlanta native is back around to deliver his third studio album. Just a week ago, he shared the project’s cover art and the title track. This week, he returned with a new single called “Talkback” that manifests many of the messages and hopes exhibited throughout “EA6.”
“I think I’m gonna drive the lamb today. I don’t get hype off of a like. [It’s] been a long week. I had to put the ‘gram away. Focus on the sh*t that matter. Go get a bag. Bring it back for your family’s sake. No more stressing. I know the method and I’m down to spread the word until my family’s straight,” he raps.
“Talkback” sets the tone for what is to come from Since I Have A Lover. Check out the second single from 6LACK’s third studio album below.
