The LA Rams hold the first overall selection after a mega deal with the Titans gave them the rights to the quarterback of their choice. The Rams have suggested that pick will be used on Cal’s Jared Goff but Carson Wentz remains in the discussion just hours away from draft day. Who else will the Rams be targeting in the 2016 NFL Draft?
Outside of the first pick the Rams only hold two 4ths and two 6ths. outside of the mega trade that cost the Rams a boatload of picks to move to number one they also gave away two other picks limited their options. Their 5th round selection is already forfeited for taking Isiah Battle in the Supplemental Draft and traded their 7th rounder to Houston for Case Keenum. To make matters worse Battle has since been cut and placed on the practice squad and the Rams didn’t even receive any compensation picks from the previous offseason.
One of the remaining 4th round picks should be used on the offensive line. LA’s offensive line is abysmal and with a large portion of the offense predicated to runningback Todd Gurley the upgrade makes a ton of sense. One sleeper I have my eye on later in the draft is Willie Beavers. Beavers is raw and needs to be developed but has all of the necessary traits to make an impact a couple years done the line.
Additionally the wide receiver spot is one that needs some depth. Georgia’s Malcolm Mitchell could be their man. Mitchell is a big bodied possession receiver who could become Jared Goff’s new best friend on key third downs.
