The Phoenix Suns played their first NBA Finals game since 1993 and they made the most of the opportunity. After a rough start and a close game through the first half, the Suns got into their groove in the second half of the game with the help of Chris Paul. The Milwaukee Bucks had Giannis Antetokounmpo back after he suffered a hyperextended knee injury in the Eastern Conference Finals. If this game is a test of the rest of the series we should be in for a good one. Let’s get into how Phoenix was able to take the Bucks 118-105 with Game 1 highlights.
Giannis got loose before being declared active for the game and placed into the starting lineup. Here he is getting up his pregame shots.

Phoenix likes getting everyone involved. Here is Mikal Bridges tipping in the Devin Booker lob.

Giannis didn’t seem too worried about his knee and took this strong drive to Deandre Ayton.

Booker has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. This fastbreak he showed off a little of everything and got a tough, flipped layup to go in past just about every Bucks defender.
Okay Book!!!
We see you ?#NBAFinals pic.twitter.com/M6adrfpCMY

CP3 didn’t have a point in the first quarter. He started to find his rhythm in the last few minutes of the first half.

Giannis was doing everything he could to get his team to rally and takeover the game. Check out this block that only the Greek Freak would have been able to snag.

The Point God tried to warn the Bucks, but by the time this four-point play landed, it may have been too late.

Just awhile after that, CP3 thought he was in Los Angeles again, throwing the lob to his big man Ayton for the slam.

The Bucks’ offense started to slow down later in the game and they were looking for anyone to make a basket. Bryan Forbes kept them in it a little longer with this big three.

Paul would put on a show as the game got into the nitty-gritty. Watch him force the foul on Giannis to get the and-one basket!

The end of the game would be a back and forth of free throws. Giannis would miss quite a few to the delight of the Phoenix crowd. CP3 finished the game with 32 points and 9 assists. The rest of the Suns did what they had to do. Jae Crowder only had 1 point, but 9 rebounds. Bridges had 14 points and not much else. Then there was Ayton who had a 22 point, 19 rebound game. His 20th rebound was snatched by Paul towards the end of the game.
Devin Booker finished with 27 points and 6 assists while Cam Johnson and Cam Payne would chip in another 10 apiece. That makes six Phoenix players in double-digits.
As for the Bucks, Giannis had 20 points and 17 rebounds but missed almost half of his free throw attempts. Khris Middleton led Milwaukee in scoring with 29 points and 7 rebounds to go along with 4 assists. Jrue Holiday was sniffing a triple-double with a stat line of 10/9/7. Brook Lopez would be the fourth and final double-digit scorer with his 17 points and 6 rebounds. Milwaukee got little help offensively from their supporting casts such as Pat Connaughton and Bobby Portis. P.J. Tucker will need to play better as well if the Bucks want to win a championship.
The Bucks and Suns faceoff against in Phoenix Thursday night at 9:00 PM EST.
