Top 50 player in the class of 2020 Josh Hall announced his commitment to NC State on Monday. A native of Durham, NC, Hall has opted to stay close to home with his pledge to the Wolfpack. Hall made a post on Twitter, confirming his decision.
Josh Hall is a 6-foot-9 combo forward with the length and ball skills that are reminiscent of Kevin Durant’s style. Hall had previously narrowed his list to 10, but the other schools primarily involved were DePaul, LSU, and Louisville. This was an expected decision, as Hall’s high school teammate Shakeel Moore recently pledged to NC State, and Hall was on campus Saturday afternoon for NC State’s game against St. Francis (BKN). The NC native is ranked 42nd nationally via 247Sports Composite, and 2nd in the state of NC.
Hall plays his high school basketball at Moravian Prep in Hickory, NC. A program that is, in large part due to Hall, a national force this year. He played his AAU ball on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit for Team Loaded NC. There he averaged 14.8 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 1.3 APG while shooting 41% from deep. Nicknamed a “big guard,” Hall utilizes his guard-like ball skills mixed with his height and length to offer a tantalizing combination, and a near-unstoppable force at times. The versatile playmaker should fit in nearly any system at the next level.
The addition of Hall serves as the final component for NC State’s 2020 class. With 5 projected scholarships and now 5 commits in the class, Kevin Keatts has wrapped up his business early. Hall ranks the highest of the group and is now revered as the prize of the class. The addition also brings NC State’s recruiting class to #5 in the nation for the time being.
It remains to be seen if Hall will sign his Letter of Intent during the early signing period. The signing period opened on November 13th and will close on November 20th. After that, all recruits must wait until April to sign.
Sources tell Def Pen Sports that Josh Hall and his family are still considering professional options, and will continue to throughout the season. Hall could be eligible for the 2020 NBA Draft should he wish to pursue that option.
