Chris Brown Leads The 2019 Soul Train Award Nominations

Chris Brown leads with the most nominations for the 2019 Soul Train Awards closely followed by Drake,  Beyoncé and, Lizzo.

Billboard exclusively reports, Chris Brown holds eight nominations total, including Best R&B/soul male artist and Song Of The Year. Closely behind Chris Brown is his No Guidance collaborator Drake, holding seven nominations including the Rhythm And Bars award and two nominations for Song Of The Year.

Beyoncé and Lizzo tie with six nominations each, competing against each other in multiple categories. This includes the Best R&B/Soul Female Artist category where newcomers Lizzo, Ari Lennox and Summer Walker compete against decorated artists H.E.R., Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige.

The Best Hip Hop Song Of The Year category received an update. Now called Rhythm and Bars, 21 Savage, Cardi B, Da Baby, J. Cole, Megan Thee Stallion, Drake and Meek Mill all hold nominations. The Best New Artist category also proves to be steep competition. Lucky Daye, Mahalia, Nicole Bus, Pink Sweat$, Summer Walker and YK Osiris are all up for the coveted award.

The BET Presents: 2019 Soul Train Awards will air live for the first time from the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. ET.
