
The 2019 NBA Skills Competition will be without defending champion Spencer Dinwiddie after he suffered an injury to his thumb, but the collection of talent that has agreed to compete is shaping up to be quite the star-studded field.
Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox will join the competition and compete for the title. In the midst of his breakout year, Fox will look to add some notoriety to his name with a contest victory at All-Star weekend. One of the favorite events to bet on in the NBA.
Rookie Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks will add to his repertoire by competing in the competition as well. Known for his flashy passes and pull-up shooting, Young seems primed for this exact type of competition.
Fellow rookie Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks will compete for the title this month as well. The strong favorite for rookie of the year, the Euro phenom has become a fan favorite across the league in just a few months of NBA ball. Doncic supporters everywhere, and especially in Dallas, will be looking forward to seeing him compete.
Memphis Grizzlies veteran Mike Conley has accepted the invitation to the skills contest for 2019. One of the more consistent player in the NBA, Conley has contributed to the grit and grind of Memphis for over a decade. His passing and scoring are just the beginning of his skill set.
Forward Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics will be competing against the field in 2019. Tatum is a young guy who shows flashes of brilliance and has a bright future ahead of him. He’s looking forward to participating in All-Star weekend for years to come and likely more than just the Skills Competition in future years.
Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma will participate in the skills competition during All-Star Weekend in 2019. Kuzma was drafted in the second round but has looked like a top pick and is one of the bright young players in the Lakers’ core. Kuzma is a class-A scorer and is looks to be one of the most skilled big men of his draft class.
Orlando Magic Center Nikola Vucevic will enter the skills challenge to add to his All-Star resume. After being named to the All-Star game last week, Vucevic will fill out his weekend by competing for a Skills Championship.
Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is the last participant in the 2019 Skills Competition. Jokic is the leader of a Nuggets squad that has surpassed expectations this season. His passing ability is unprecedented for a player of his size, and while he prefers that to shooting and scoring, he can be rather on that side of offense as well.
A group of young and exciting fan favorites, will compete alongside the grizzled veterans who have learned all the tricks there are to learn. This enticing lineup of players will prove to put on a fierce and entertaining competition.
