Jean Grey is going crazy in the latest X-Men trailer. If you’re a fan of the franchise you’re probably correcting me in saying that she’s not going ‘crazy’, she’s becoming… The ‘Dark Phoenix’.
Death seems to be inevitable for the X-Men franchise. This may be the final FOX X-men film due to the fact Disney purchased back the rights of the characters. X-Men Apocalypse, which was released in 2016, was an absolute failure despite doing well in the box office. It didn’t appeal to casual or dedicated fans of the franchise.
X-Men began with their first film back in 2000 and created a franchise that spanned 10 films and over 19 years. But it looks like Disney and the franchise are looking to turn a new leaf and this would be a viable way to end it. If Phoenix destroys the world and the X-Men along with it, then there’s a way for the entire franchise to be reset.
All of this makes sense because their number one product in Hugh Jackman as Wolverine finished with Logan (2017) and their prized possession Deadpool has been a sensation, jolting the franchise into a new direction.
Regardless, this may be the final chance you get to enjoy this current X-Men franchise. ‘Dark Phoenix’ opens in theatres everywhere June 7th.
