Kyrie Irving was touted early in his career as the new breed of point guard. He could supposedly do it all. Including bringing Cleveland out of the LeBron hangover they were clearly having.
Skip to now and he’s now getting paid the big money. To lead the team to the Playoffs and beyond? That was the plan starting out.
With the supposed “fixed” Draft lottery going to Cleveland once again they had a choice between Embiid, Wiggins and Parker. Everybody went for Embiid and likely so. They are in desperate need of a big. But then Embiid got injured, they picked Wiggins and you know the rest.
But what now?
They have their point guard, they have their small forward with high potential and a good amount of cap space. Should they really put all their eggs into the LeBron basket?
Let’s be real here, many teams are pining for the King and most of them on paper are better than Cleveland. Yes it would be a fairytale comeback to his home state but this is LeBron were talking about. Nobody got time for fairytales.
There are a good batch of free agents out there. According to Sam Amico the Cavs are going for Rockets forward Chandler Parsons and Wizards Polish Hammer Marcin Gortat.
Now those are realistic! I like them. And why not go for Detroit’s Greg Monroe. He’s is a great, very underrated post presence.
This is a free agency where it can make your team a Finals team, in Cleveland’s case, a solid Playoff threat, there are options. Cleveland can’t hide this time. The time is now.
