Will Smith will reportedly perform a new, original song at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday, June 30 in Los Angeles, California. The broadcast network shared no further details regarding his performance.
Smith may be more well known to a new generation for his acting prowess, but the Philadelphia native is a key figure in Hip-Hop culture. Not only did he take Hip-Hop to the small screen with the success of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but his 1988 collaboration with DJ Jazzy Jeff, “Parent’s Just Don’t Understand,” won the first-ever GRAMMY Award for Best Rap Performance. Overall, he’s released two platinum-selling albums with DJ Jazzy Jeff and two platinum-selling albums as a solo act. Along the way, he’s put out two number one hits and three top ten singles.
The iconic actor has shifted away from music in recent years, but he’s rapped over his son’s breakout hit, “Icon,” appeared on the last two Bad Boy soundtracks and hopped on stage with J Balvin at Coachella. Now, it looks like the Bad Boys: Ride or Die star may be working on another full-length album.
