Netflix is setting its sights on the borough of Brooklyn for its latest series. The docuseries, We Are: The Brooklyn Saints, follows the story of a youth football program navigating the ups and downs of growing up in the biggest city in America. Along the way, the team fights for an opportunity to play for the Pop Warner Super Bowl in Orlando, Florida.
“Through intimate verité footage, the series immerses us in the world of Brooklyn Saints football and their community, chronicling the personal stories of the driven young athletes, as well as the support system of coaches and parents rallying behind them,” Netflix writes.
“Over the course of a season, we witness the Saints’ power on and off the field, as they celebrate victories and overcome losses, both personal and athletic. Raw and authentic, the pressures of adolescence unfolds in real time as the boys work to propel themselves to a brighter future.”
The new series helmed by director Rudy Valdez. Valdez is best known for his work on The Last Patrol and The Sentence. His latest four-part documentary will debut on Netflix on January 29, 2021.
