Wale spent the weekend at The Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, but he’s likely back in the studio this week as he prepares to finish his eighth studio album.
“[This past] weekend was a vibe. It’s time to finish #8,” he wrote as he shared photos from his performance at The Roots Picnic.
“You mean album #8?” a quote tweet asks.
“It’s almost that time,” the DMV native answered.
Wale is currently enjoying the longest hiatus of his career. Previously, the 30-month break between Shine and Wow…That’s Crazy served as the longest stint between LPs. Now, he’ll prepare to rollout the follow-up to Folarin II nearly three full years later. Since Folarin II arrived, Wale has toured, performed at The Kennedy Center, appeared on Uninterrupted’s The Shop, put More About Nothing on streaming services and starred in Michael Bay’s Ambulance.
Wale has not unveiled an official release date, but all signs point to a fall rollout. Until then, check out this quick recap of his performance at The Roots Picnic.
