The regular season is done and the playoffs teams are getting ready to compete for the championship. The rest of the NFL is getting prepared for the next season, for some teams like the Minnesota Vikings that means firing their Head Coach Mike Zimmer and their General Manager Rick Spielman, according to Tom Pelissero from NFL Network.

Zimmer spent eight years in the front of the Vikings sideline and leaves with a 72-56-1 record and three appearances in the NFL playoffs and reaching the divisional round twice but wasn’t able to advance further than that. As for Spielman, he’s been with the team for 16 seasons, first as the Vice President of Player Personnel and in 2012 he was promoted to General Manager.
The franchise will have now a new beginning, for the most part, and a chance to hire a new voice that can lead the Vikings to a new chapter in their history.
“We appreciate Rick and Mike’s commitment to the team’s on-field success, their passion for making a positive impact in our community and their dedication to the players, coaches and staff. While these decisions are not easy, we believe it is time for a new leadership to elevate our team so we can consistently contend for championships”, stated the Vikings on a press release.
With the recent monday morning firings, there are six head coach vacancies currently in the NFL: Jaguars, Raiders, Broncos, Bears, Dolphins and Vikings.
