Did Miami Heat All-Star Dwyane Wade aim to offend when he chose to continue his pregame warmup before game 3 against the Toronto Raptors? It’s hard to say he wanted to go out there and disrespect the entire country of Canada but it seemed like he did ruffle some feathers after he elected to continue his warmup during the singing of ‘O, Canada’.
Many were offended and Wade actually broke some NBA rules by shooting during the pregame singing but it’s hard to believe Wade had any malicious intent behind his actions. He talked to the media and shot down any misconceptions about his intentions.
At the end of the day, did Dwyane Wade intend to offend anyone? He did but it sounded like he didn’t mean it. It appeared to be a misunderstanding of sorts about what went on and he apologized. Now should he face some sort of discipline from the NBA? At this point, absolutely. Enough people have seen it and it’s something that should be addressed very soon by the powers that be. But moving forward, the Heat will have to figure out how to win without Hassan Whiteside and how to beat the Raptors without Jonas Valanciunas.
