Usher is returning to the small screen yet again. Following his explosive halftime performance at Allegiant Stadium during Super Bowl LVIII, the GRAMMY Award has partnered with UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, to develop a drama series inspired by his music.
“Black love in Atlanta and individuals looking to find a place to call home. The series will explore music, style, sex, romance and secrets that threaten to tear relationships apart,” the show’s official longline reads.
Usher’s performance during Super Bowl LVIII highlighted his 30-year run of crafting and delivering some of the most iconic R&B, Pop and EDM tracks of the last century. The Atlanta-raised artist has sold more than 150 million records, won eight GRAMMY Awards and headlined six tours across Australia, Europe and North America. The best-selling vocalist recently wrapped up a residency in Sin City, announced his upcoming tour and released a new album, Coming Home.
“My 30-year catalog has resonated with so many people no matter where they were in their lives,” Usher said.
“I’m happy to be working with UCP to bring the music to life. I hope the series resonates with you the way my music continues to.”
Usher is no stranger to the silver screen. Not only has he delivered countless televised musical performances, but he’s also starred in Moesha and Soul Food. He’s also appeared in feature films like Bad Hair and Hands of Stone. The multi-talented entertainer has not revealed whether or not he’ll appear in the show just yet.
