USA Basketball has announced significant expansion of its men’s junior national team through partnerships with the NBA, NBPA, and NCAA according to a press release. The plans include additional training camps and year-round player development programs.
The announced collaboration brings together the major stakeholders of the basketball world. One of the planned training camps will take place at the NCAA Final Four in Minneapolis, building on the “Next Generation” program started last year. Aside from on-court training, the partnership will offer education to parents and families to help manage their child’s development. The programs are currently used by the NBA G League and many Division I schools.
“This is a great collaboration between four major influencersin the sport with the aim of creating a better experience for these young athletes as they look to navigate their basketball journey in high school, college and professional levels,” said Gen. Martin Dempsey, retired USA Basketball chairman. “We believe this vibrant program will not only assist the players in their on court development, but also assist them and their families with life skills, and health and wellness knowledge that will last a lifetime.”
USA Basketball recently announced an expansion of its open championships as well, further increasing the accessibility of their services to more players.
